Moreover, we can consider Washed & Buffered Cocos a very clean substrate in terms of EC. It achieves a 0,2 – 0,3 mS/cm which is lower than most tap waters!
This means that the substrate is like a blank canvas. Excellent if you want to have full control and the ability to customize the nutritional and EC values for your crop according to your preferences and needs.
But as you know, with great power comes great responsibility ;). You will need to be careful, start adding fertalizers from the beginning and check the EC. In addition, coco substrates do not have as much pH buffering and nutrient holding capacity compared to peat substrates. This makes them need more control, both for the good and the bad.
